Eivind Engebretsen is a professor of interdisciplinary health science (with emphasis on the philosophy of science) at the Institute of Health and Society (HELSAM), University of Oslo. He is also the Research Director at the Faculty of Medicine with the academic responsibility for the postdoctoral training programme.
Engebretsen’s distinctiveness as a researcher lies in his attempt to ‘bridge the gap’ between the medical and the human sciences and to engage with academic discourses in both fields. He is a qualified professor in health science, human science and social science.
His current research interest is the notion of ‘knowledge translation’ in medicine, its different genealogies and how it might be expanded by drawing on theories of translation from linguistics, philosophy and anthropology.
