About fellow

Jon Swenson is a professor at the Department of Ecology and Natural Resource Management at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences.  He is originally from Montana, USA, and has Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Fish and Wildlife Management from Montana State University.   After working as a wildlife management biologist for the Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks for 10 years, he went to the University of Alberta to obtain a PhD degree in Zoology.  His PhD research was conducted in Sweden.  Jon's major research interest throughout his academic career has been the effects of human activities on wildlife populations.  He has worked with a variety of birds and mammals on four continents.  Since 1991, Jon has been the scientific leader of the Scandinavian Brown Bear Research Project (www.bearproject.info), which has been following individual bears from birth-to-death for over 30 years.  Much of the activity in our CAS project is based on this quite unique dataset.
