Area(s) of Expertise Topological data analysis
Magnus B. Botnan is an assistant professor (tenure track) at the department of mathematics at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam. Before relocating to the Netherlands he was a postdoc at TU Munich, and before that, he did his Ph.D. at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (December 2015). Working within the field of topological data analysis, a relatively recent branch of mathematics in which topological signatures are assigned to data, his research includes pure elements such as the representation theory of quivers, as well as more computational aspects, and applications towards the sciences.
