About fellow

Toni Kannisto is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Oslo, currently working on his project titled "Metaphysics of Possibility and the Possibility of Metaphysics in Transcendental Idealism.” He finished his PhD in Oslo in 2012, with a thesis titled “From Thinking to Being – Kant’s Modal Critique of Metaphysics.” Kannisto's expertise lies in Kant’s theoretical philosophy, modality, metaphysics and metametaphysics, and his current research interests include Frege’s conception of existence, Kripke’s a posteriori necessity, philosophy of mind, as well as history and philosophy of logic. His recent publications include “Kant on the Necessity of Causal Relations” and “Positio contra complementum possibilitatis – Kant and Baumgarten on Existence”, both forthcoming in Kant-Studien. He is also the co-founder of the Finnish Internet encyclopaedia of philosophy, Logos, a board member of the Norwegian Kant Society, and a member of the Oslo-based ConceptLab.
