The Centre for Advanced Study (CAS) partners with Norwegian universities and university colleges to strengthen fundamental research. The agreements, which last for five years and may be renewed, are structured to benefit CAS, the institutions, and the scholars themselves.

  • Scholars employed in permanent research positions at CAS' partner institutions are granted extra sabbatical leave during their stay
  • Partner institutions pay scholars' salaries during their stay, guaranteeing financial stability for project leaders and fellows, and reducing the financial strain on CAS
  • Partner institutions earn publication points for research published during or after a stay at CAS, potentially increasing their share of the performance-based funding allocated by the Norwegian government

Contact committees

Each partner institution elects members to a contact committee. The committees assist the institutions and CAS with the process of selecting project leaders.
